A federal grand jury indicted Matteo Morelli of Warwick Wednesday on one count of delaying or destroying mail as a postal employee, according to the Associated Press. The mail was addressed to residents and businesses in East Greenwich and North Kingstown.

Two Men Charged in Murder of Former NK Girl, 12

Two Providence men have been charged in the murder of a 12-year-old former North Kingstown girl whowent to Quidnessett Elementary School last year and the year before.

Police Log: Joy Ride Gone Wrong & Broken Glass

Monday, July 8, 12:46 p.m. – A North Kingstown man came to the police station to report a road-rage incident. According to the man, on July 5 while driving north on Post Road, he was cut off by a black Subaru station wagon. The station wagon did it again when the NK man turned onto Frenchtown Road. While stopped at the traffic light at the entrance of the Stop & Shop shopping center, the NK man said the Subaru driver pulled up next to him, got partially out and started yelling and swearing at the NK man, finally throwing a Gatorade bottle. The NK man turned into the shopping center and the Subaru continued eastward. The NK man gave police the Subaru's license plate number, which was tracked back to a Subaru, but the man declined to pursue the matter further, only wanting the incident to be documented.

Council Receptive To Allen Harbor Dog Park Proposal

North Kingstown appears to be on the verge of having its own dog park, following the Town Council's positive reaction Monday to a plan put forward by Friends of the Animal Shelter. A vote on the proposal could come at the Council's next meeting, on Aug. 5.

Man Killed At EB Worked For Company Doing Construction Work There

The man who died Monday after an accident at Electric Boat at Quonsetwas working for a company doing construction at the site, according to an EB spokesman. The man has not been identified.

Carriage Inn To Reopen

Carriage Inn is coming back, with a slightly longer name – Carriage Inn and Saloon – but that same iconic carriage in front. The Town Council Monday night voted 5-0 in favor of transferring the beverage, victualing, dance and entertainment licenses to KirCorp, LLC, owner of the new Carriage Inn and Saloon.

Police Log: Assaulting Behavior & A Mystery Bullet

Thursday, July 47:24 p.m. – Relatives of a North Kingstown man told police he had been loud and belligerent to his elderly mother, with whom he lives. The mother was reluctant to make any statements against her son though she did say he had been belligerent and rude. She asked he leave the house for the night. He agreed to go so police took him to the Budget Inn.
