Five reasons to grab the kids and get out the door.

Though the mercury is rising, it's not quite yet warm enough to kick the kids outside. Here are some events going on this week that may pique their interests that are well within the boundaries of the season...

1. North Kingstown High School's West Side Story

Where/When: North Kingstown High School auditorium, 150 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown | Friday & Saturday, March 11 & 12 at 7 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, March 12 & 13 at 2 p.m.

Why Go: The cast and crew of NKHS' "West Side Story" have worked their tails off this winter to put on their rendition of this classic musical. Check out their vocal stylings, dance moves, sets, costumes and, of course, the snapping! (Check tomorrow's Viewfinder for a sneak peek at this weekend's play!)

Pricing: $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Student tickets, $10.

Where/When: North Kingstown Free Library, 100 Boone St., North Kingstown | Thursday, March 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Why Go: Check out some of NK's budding artists at Thursday night's student art show. The artwork will be on display until Thursday, April 7.

Pricing: Free.

 

Where/When: North Kingstown Free Library, 100 Boone St., North Kingstown | Saturday, March 12 at 11 a.m.

Why Go: Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, Debbie O'Carroll will be at the NK Free Library for an Irish magic show, introducing chlidren to a group of classical characters from Irish literature. For children ages 4 and up. Please register at 294-3306.

Pricing: Free.

 

4. Providence Bruins' St. Patty's Hat Night

Where/When: Dunkin Donuts Center, One Lasalle Square, Providence | Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: It's hockey season! Head on up to Providence for the P-Bruins' matchup against Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The first 3,000 fans will get a free, green P-Bruins  hat!

Pricing: starting at $18.

 

Where/When: Cranston Veterans Memorial Ice Rink 900 Phenix Ave., Cranston | Fridays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Want to hear non-stop music from a live DJ, have a great time with friends, drink hot chocolate, and not have to worry about spending a lot of money? Put a check next to this event!

Pricing: $5, $3 for kids under 6 and $5 skate rentals.
