Get Out: Irish Humor, Silver Screens And Murder Mysteries

Five things to get you out of the house this weekend.

We hope no one gave up "nights out" for Lent this year, because we have five things to do outside the homestead that may tickle your fancy.

 

Where/When: Quidnessett Country Club, 950 N. Quidnessett Rd., North Kingstown | Saturday, March 12 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: No need to drive to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun or Twin River this weekend. Head over to QCC for this event benetting the EGEF. Vegas-style casino gambling tables, complimentary signature drinks, hor d'ouevres, pasta bar, dancing, live/silent auctions and more will be going on throughout the night.

2. The Phreaks With Moga at Ocean Mist

Where/When: Ocean Mist, 895 Matunuck Beach Rd., South Kingstown | Friday, March 11 at 9 p.m.

Why Go: See local boys Moga play with Phish cover band The Phreaks Friday night at the Ocean Mist.

Pricing: Free

 

Where/When: Newport Art Museum, 76 Bellevue Ave., Newport | Saturday, March 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: Ever want to play the part of a detective in those crime novels? Play it out in real life at the Newport Art Museum this weekend as you try to guess "who dun it" for this 90-minute, family-friendly event performed by the Marley Bridges Threatre Company.

Pricing: Museum members - $15 for adults and $8 for students; non-members - $25 for adults and $12 for students; group discounts available.

 

Where/When: Firehouse Theater, 4 Equality Park Place, Newport | March 11 & 12 at 8 p.m.

Why Go: In honor of Irish Heritage Month, the Bit Players will be busting out their "bits O'Irish Humor," including Blarney, leprechauns and laughs. Even better, the event is BYOB!

Pricing: $15 (but mention Irish Heritage Month and get $5 off your seat)

 

Where/When: Showcase Cinemas Warwick Mall, 400 Bald Hill Rd., Warwick | Monday, March 14 at 1 p.m.

Why Go: When else can you go to the movies and only drop $2 on a ticket? Join Showcase this Monday at 1 p.m. for "Pot O' Gold," the 1941 classic starring Jimmy Stewart and Paulette Goddard.
