Good morning and happy Monday. Yes, we just greeted you with two oxymorons, but we’ll make it up to you with our 5 Things To Know Today in North Kingstown for the day. Every day, we’ll provide a list of daily essentials to let you know what’s going on around town.

  1. The North Kingstown Town Council meets again tonight at 7 p.m. at the . The council looks to award GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. of Providence $35,800 to evaluate dams at Featherbed Lane and Old Forge Road, as well as develop conceptual designs. (Featherbed Lane was closed last March during the historic flooding.) They will also look to award ATC Lincoln Associates of Smithfield $35,170 to monitor and close the Hamilton-Allenton Landfill and the Oak Hill Landfill. The council will also once again address the stop sign issue in the Terre Mar Drive neighborhood as well as hear a presentation by some North Kingstown High School students on creating a bike path from Wickford to Quonset.
  2. North Kingtown’s is holding a blood drive from 4 to 8 p.m. tonight. Rhode Island Blood Center’s Bloodmobile will be present to collect donations. Due to the flurry of storms, the RI Blood Center has seen numerous blood drive cancellations and is well below their typical supply this year.
  3. It’s going to snow once again tonight. Later this evening, we’ll see a light rain/snow mix which will end by tomorrow morning. According to the National Weather Service, there won’t be much accumulation, if any. Seriously folks, who ticked off Mother Nature?
  4. North Kingstown boys hoops squares off against primordial rival South Kingstown in . Rivalries aside, tonight is Seniors’ Night for the NK boys. Game starts at 7 p.m.
  5. Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers on their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last night. It’s taken us awhile, but we think we’re finally over Super Bowl XXXI and Desmond Howard.
