Five Things To Know, April 4

Today's five essentials.

After having a more “spring-like” weekend, it’s back to the grind as we kick off this lovely Monday morning with today’s Five Things To Know.

  1. For the first time since February, we have a Monday night without a North Kingstown Town Council. However, the council will meet on Wednesday, Apr. 6 at 7 p.m. to discuss the Wickford Elementary School conversion. President Elizabeth Dolan is expected to request Planning Director Jon Reiner and the town solicitor to draft up a new wind energy ordinance at Monday night’s meeting as well.
  2. Congratulations to Eric Holtzman, who made the “Golden Dozen” of high school football players this year. Each year, the Rhode Island Chapter of National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame names the top 12 football-playing senior student athletes. Holtzman will be honored along with the 11 other athletes at the RI Football Foundation awards dinner on May 2 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Warwick.
  3. It’s story time at the Willett Free Library today! Head on down to 45 Ferry Rd. between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. for Story Time for Young Children, complete with a craft and/or snack.
  4. This Day In History...On this day in 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.
  5. Weather DisPatch...Say adios to those sunny rays as clouds and fog roll in today. High temperatures will be in the upper 40s as light rain and drizzle. Tomorrow, we might even get our first spring thunderstorm early in the day before the clouds clear in the afternoon. Highs will jump into the 50s.
