Civil War reenactment in East Greenwich: The East Greenwich Free Library and New England Tech are hosting this recreation of an authentic Civil War battlefield encampment, featuring the soldiers, tents and artillery cannons from Battery B, First Regiment Rhode Island Artillery. Stop by this authentic encampment anytime from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at New England Tech's EG campus, and visit with the soldiers in this living history display. The Battery will "fire" their cannons twice that day, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Smith’s Castle’s Strawberry Festival: Savor Smith’s Castle’s celebrated strawberry shortcake and pay homage to the humble wild strawberry –- a favorite of the early colonists and the native Narragansett. Delicious strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream will be offered for purchase. Dan Butterwoth’s Marionettes will entertain children of all ages. Other activities for families to enjoy will include pony rides and live animals to pet. The Gift Shop is brimming with new and unique treasures, and local vendors and artisans will be selling their wares. From noon to 4 p.m.

Slocum Grange Strawberry Supper: The Second Annual Strawberry Festival to be held at Slocum Grange Hall today at 5:30 p.m.  The menu is baked ham with pineapple chunks, New England baked beans, homemade potato salad, rolls, pickles, coffee, tea, and punch. The dessert is strawberries on homemade biscuits with whipped cream. $12 adults, $6 children 5-10, free 5 and under. For reservations call Carol Perry at 401-294-2989

Concert at Shady Lea Mill: Local singer/songwriter Isabella Vergun takes the stage at Space to Be to perform selections from her first album, “And Then I Wake Up” and new songs too. Isabella has been influenced by such artists as Elvis Costello, Tori Amos, and Barenaked Ladies. Her songs are lyrically thoughtful, compelling, and witty. 7 p.m. at Shady Lea Mill. $5.

Casey Farm market: One of the more established farmers markets in the state takes place Saturday mornings at Casey Farm, from 9 a.m. to noon.
