Fundraiser for Ellie Jackson: Fundraiser for a fourth grade student at Forest Park Elementary School. The event takes place at St. Francis de Sales Church. Catered dinner, live band, children welcome. Ten dollars per adult /five per child. Elise Jackson has been at Hasbro Children's Hospital for the last month and currently remains on life support. From 6 to 9 p.m.

Tom Cavanagh 5K: The Inaugural Thomas Cavanagh Scholarship Run will take place on Saturday May 18.The 5k Run/Walk will support the Thomas G. Cavanagh Scholarship Fund at Our Lady of Mercy School. Tom was a former student and parishioner of OLM and his family has founded a scholarship in his memory – the run starts at OLM at 9 a.m. Click here for more information.

Give Back Saturday: Ocean State Soccer’s SoccerRECYCLE will be collecting gently used uniforms and soccer equipment and sending them to poor communities at a collection event today. OSS is asking each player to bring a nonperishable food item and their used soccer uniforms to the fields this weekend. All nonperishable food items will be donated to NK Food Pantry. From 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ocean State Soccer fields, 650 Stony Lane.

Yard Sales: A multi-family sale at 100 Pine Tree Circle – clothes, household items, some sports equipment, and more (other homes include 108 Pine Tree Circle, 94 Pine Tree Circle, and 20 Kettle Court). From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Yard Sale at 146 Hamilton Allenton – tons of young boys clothes, vacuum, old Mac computer, and many other various household items. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Village Faire Open House: Village Faire Co-op members will be out on the deck overlooking spectacular Wickford Harbor for a day of sharing artistic and creative talents, treasures and fun. Engage interactively with jewelry making, shell crafting, portrait sketching, skin-care demos, torch glass flamework, pottery-wheel demos. There will be live acoustic music with percussion participation. Live alpacas. 83 Brown St., from noon to 5 p.m.

Lafayette Band Armed Forces Salute: On Armed Forces Day, the Lafayette Band will stage its 6th annual concert of patriotic music to honor past, present and future members of the U.S. military. Recognition will be given to all service members, veterans and family in the audience. Military color guards will conduct flag ceremonies and memorial observances. Admission is free. Voluntary donations at the door will be appreciated, with proceeds equally supporting the band’s ongoing free performances and Providence VA patients in need. The Lafayette Band was founded more than 125 years ago and is one of the oldest bands in continuous existence in R.I. At North Kingstown High School at 7 p.m.
