5k Raises Funds for Food Pantry, School

Runners descended upon South County Nursing Center Saturday morning for the 7th Annual 5k run.

Saturday morning found runners of all ages gathering at the South County Nursing Home for the 7th Annual 5k Run/Walk. 

This year 51 runners participated in the event, raising proceeds for the local food pantry and for scholarships for the local high school. 

Crossing the finish line first was Derek Jakoboski of Wakefield with a time of 19:07. Seconds later Chris Picerno of Cranston and Mary Najarian of North Kingstown crossed the finish line with times of 19:09 and 19:15 respectively.

As runners crossed the finish line the celebration got into gear with a cookout and a DJ on hand to keep the music playing.
