5 Things: Turbines, School Committee & Theater

Today's five essentials.

Could this really be the week that we officially put away the winter boots and coats? Will North Kingstown see its first turbine this year? How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Well, at least get some of those answers with today's 5 Things.

  1. The Town of North Kingstown has revoked the building permit for North Kingstown Green, ostensibly halting construction of the already-approved 427-foot wind turbine. Check back with North Kingstown Patch for the full story later.
  2. The North Kingstown School Committee looks to go at it again tonight at 7 p.m. at the NKHS auditorium. On the agenda, the committee looks to discuss (continued from its last meeting), , request decision regarding legal counsel, and other issues. (Check our PDFs section to the left for the full agenda.)
  3. NKHS' actors need your help. NKHS' Advanced Acting class, Acting Ensemble and Thespian Troupe 6945 is holding a benefit performance of their winning one-act play, "Nora's Lost," tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The group is raising funds for their trip to the New England festival in Andover, MA. Tickets are $5 at the door.
  4. On this day in history, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin becomes the first human to travel in outerspace in 1961.
  5. Another chance of showers today as yesterday's cloudy conditions continue. High temperatures will be in the mid 50s. Tonight, things will be a bit breezy and showers will start after 1 a.m. Blustery conditions continue into Wednesday as more rain falls on Rhode Island with an expected one to two inches of rain.
