5 Things: Surf and Turf

Here are five things to know for Thursday, Oct. 13.

1. North Kingstown boat mooring fees could be on the rise. The Harbor Management Commission has planned a preliminary discussion on increasing town mooring permits during its meeting tonight at 7:30 at at the Beechwood House, 44 Beach St. Click on the attached agenda for a full look at tonight's meeting.

2. Get some fresh, local produce and browse through the offerings of other local vendors at the farmer's market at , 55 Richard Smith Drive. The market begins today at 1 p.m.

While you're there, why not take a look around the grounds? Built in 1678, Smith's Castle is one of the oldest houses in the state and on the site of Roger Williams' original trading post. Along with being named a National Historic Landmark, Smith's Castle is an archaeological site. Today, it serves the community as a house museum including tours and activities on its 23 acres overlooking Narragansett Bay.

3. Concerned about the future of North Kingstown or the state as a whole. Voice your concerns to your representative in the Statehouse tonight. Sen. Dawson Hodgson will be meeting with constituents from 5 to 7 p.m. at North Kingstown Town Hall, 80 Boston Neck Road. This is a latest in a series of constituent office hours, meant to allow residents of the district to meet the senator, share their concerns and learn what he is working on at the Statehouse.

4. Travel north with the North Kingstown girls tennis team as they head to Providence to take on LaSalle Academy, 612 Academy Ave., Providence at 3:30 p.m. today.

5. The cloudy, rainy weather that moved in Wednesday afternoon will stick around throughout the day today. Cloudy skies and showers are expected most of the day, with temperatures topping out in the high 60s.
