5 Things: Stamp Farm Turbine, No Referendum & More

Today's five essentials.

  1. The North Kingstown Planning Commission has rejected the application for a 389-foot wind turbine at Stamp Farm. In a 5-1 vote, commission members deemed that the application had undergone "significant change" and was thus a new application. Check back with North Kingstown Patch for the full story later today.
  2. No new taxes. That's what North Kingstown voters emphatically said yesterday, defeating a budget referendum that would have given an additional $500,000 to the school department. The measure was shot down with 77 percent of the vote, as ony 491 voters voted in favor of the question.
  3. It goes to game three for the Rhode Island state baseball championships. The North Kingstown High School boys baseball team was unable to put the series away against Cranston High School West last night and will go at it again tonight at 6:30 p.m. at McCoy Stadium.
  4. As the mercury rises across the state, more and more people are heading outdoors. Bicyclists are no exception.
