5 Things: Rolling Greens, Gardening & Thunderstorms

Today's five essentials.

  1. The North Kingstown Planning Commission looks to discuss a proposed village center at Rolling Greens Golf Course at tonight's meeting. The proposed project would feature a mixture of businesses and residences on the stretch of land next to the golf course along Ten Rod Road. The meeting kicks off tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the North Kingstown Community Center at 10 Beach St. (Learn more about the Rolling Greens development in the related content on the right.)
  2. It’s time to graduate from coloring books and paint-by-number sheets. Stop at from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for its class. Explore different mediums of art with your child, courtesy of some creative intervention. $25 with materials included and $15 for siblings. Reservations are requested in advance by calling 667-5911.
  3. The Rhode Island Wild Plant Society is hosting a special event for new members tonight at the . Karen Asher's "Gardening with Wildflowers" presentation is great for anyone interested in gardening, whether they're a novice or an avid gardener. Please RSVP/register here for this program. The presentation starts at 6 p.m. and is followed by a light dinner.
  4. The boys tennis and baseball teams are both on the road today. The baseball team takes on Chariho at 4 p.m. while the tennis team battles Toll Gate High School at 5:30 p.m.
  5. We may we waking up to thunderstorms this morning followed by regular showers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The thunderstorms may return after 4 p.m. as high temperatures settle in the mid 50s. Showers will continue into the night with areas of fog as temperatures dip into the lower 50s. Wednesday, even more showers are likely with a few thunderstorms possibly after 2 p.m. as highs linger in the upper 60s.
