5 Things: Rolling Greens, Festival of Lights & Christmas at the Castle

Five things to know for Nov. 30.

1.  The North Kingstown Town Council looks to make a final decision on the application for Rolling Greens this evening. The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Beechwood Center.

2.  Festival of Lights is in full swing down in Wickford Village. On tap today, Santa arrives via boat to the town dock at 5:30 p.m. Throughout the night, check out an ongoing live Nativity scene at St. Paul's, hayrides with Santa, carolers and a concert from the Lafayette Band. 3.  Shady Lea Mill is holdings its 15th Annual Open Studios weekend Saturday and Sunday. Browse locally-made pottery sculpture, glass, pewter frames, photography, jewelry and more. Runs from noon to 5 p.m. both days. Get the full rundown here.

4.  Wickford isn't the only festive place in town this weekend. Head over to Smith's Castle for its annual "Christmas at the Castle" celebration. Enjoy delicious treats, apple cider and live entertainment at the castle, which will be decked out in period fashion. Admission is $5 for adults 13 and older, $2 for children 6 to 12 and free for kids under 6.

5.  Today: partly sunny with highs near 38. Tonight: a chance of snow showers before 4 a.m. followed by a chance of rain with temperatures rising to about 41 by sunrise. Tomorrow: a chance of showers with cloudy skies and highs near 44.
