5 Things: RI Economy, Volunteers & Narwhals

Five things to know for May 8.

1.  Today, Gov. Lincoln Chafee will be in town for a business community outreach forum at Beechwood Center. Joining him will be North Kingstown Town Manager Michael Embury and representatives from the RI EDC, Department of Labor and Training, and more to discuss the economy and speak to small businesses. This forum starts at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

2.  The North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce is recognizing its volunteers and the organizations they serve at its Eighth Annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration. To join, please RSVP by calling the Chamber at 295-5566. The celebration runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Quonset 'O' Club today. Learn more here.

3.  Natural History writer Todd McLeish will be at the North Kingstown Free Library today, reading from his newly-published book about rare wildlife – specifically Narwhals. The program starts at 6:30 p.m. Please register.
