5 Things: Olympic Viewing Party, Best of NK & Route 2/102

Five things to know for July 26.

1.   You have until 9 a.m. today to submit your comments, thoughts and gripes regarding the future of Route 2 and 102 intersection. The town is looking to kick off a visioning process for the area. .

2.   It's Beisel fever in North Kingstown! NK's Elizabeth Beisel will be competing on the world stage on Saturday. The NKHS swim team is hosting an Olympics viewing party at the cafeteria on Saturday, July 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Beisel's scheduled to compete at 2:20 p.m., so don't be late! Proceeds will benefit the swim team.

3.  Bring the family down to the tonight for the last installment of the . The Bari Koral Family Rock Band kicks things off at 6:30 p.m. A donation of $3 per family is suggested. Feel free to bring food and seating.

4.  The nominating period for our newest installment of Readers' Choice ended a few weeks ago. But, because I am so nice and caring I'm allowing additional nominations until Friday at 4 p.m. . Please submit your nominations in the comments section in the applicable article (i.e. nominate your favorite pizza place in the ). Nominations not submitted properly will not be considered.

5.  Today: a slight chance of showers and a chance of thunderstorms (with some storms producing heavy rains) and highs near 85 and breezy. Tonight: a chance for severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain with lows around 72. Tomorrow: a chance of showers and thunderstorms with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 83.
