5 Things: Meet the Candidates, Saving the Birthplace & More

Five things to know for Oct. 24.

1.  The North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce and The NorthEast Independent will kick off their candidate forums tonight and tomorrow night. Tonight at 7 p.m., all 14 candidates for Town Council will hit the stage at 7 p.m. On Thursday, the 4 candidates for School Committee will go on, followed by the House and Senate candidates at 8 p.m. Members of the public may submit questions for the candidates by emailing mpughe@northkingstown.com. All forums will be held in the NKHS auditorium.

2.  To celebrate the 81st anniversary of the acquisition of Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum, the museum is asking the public to help learn the names of the original 1931 attendees of the museum's opening. The attendees are recorded on a small piece of 8mm film. Come to the NK Free Library Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for the event – Saving the Birthplace. Tim Cranston will be on hand to offer some history and photos of the site throughout the years will also be on display.
