5 Things: Hurricane Sandy, Books & Horribles

Five things to know for Oct. 27.

1.  With Hurricane Sandy approaching, we've decided to start another 'Cane Blog in anticipation of the storm. . Hopefully the storm won't be too bad and we won't need the 'Cane Blog, but we'd rather err on the side of caution.

2. With the storm heading our way, we may be looking at power outages next week. What better way to spend your time during an outage than with a few good books. Luckily, the North Kingstown Free Library is holding a book sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including a specialty table of “antique” books. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the library.

3.  Also from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Allie’s Tack & Feed is holding an event with the Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue. The rescue will be bringing their Golden Retrievers and have information on how to adopt a rescued retriever in your area.
