5 Things: 'Good Time Law' Petition Signing And...Sun?

Five things to know for Aug. 17.

  1. Representative Doreen Costa is hosting a . Rep. Costa and the family of Jason Foreman, who was murdered in 1975 by , will be present for the event. Woodmansee, sentenced to 40 years in prison, is getting out 12 years early because of the state's Good Behavior Early Release Program. The event will be at from 7 to 8 p.m.
  2. Members of the 103rd Field Artillery Battalion, Rhode Island Army National Guard, returned home yesterday after flying back into Quonset. The 60 soldiers were deployed to Kuwait last September and were demobilizing at Wisconsin's Fort McCoy. Over the next few weeks, more than 150 members of the battalion and the 1207th Forward Support Company will be returning home. Welcome back!
  3. If your summer vacation plans didn't take you too far outside of Rhode Island, head over to the tonight to with Dave Clayton. Clayton, a retired University of Rhode Island computer scientist, has visited the canyon more than a dozen times and has a wonderful slide show and stories to share.
