5 Things: Girls Ice Hockey, Summer Concert & Nighttime At The Farm

Five things to know for August 9.

  1. Could girls hockey players be getting a league of their own? The North Kingstown School Committee will consider approving North Kingstown's participation in an all-female co-op hockey team with Narragansett and South Kingstown. Both of the other school committees have approved the endeavor.
  2. Along with the girls ice hockey team consideration, the NK School Committee will discuss former superintendent and an update on filling the position. (Assistant and hopes to take on the .) The committee will also discuss reorganization of the administrative team at the high school to include two assistant principals and two deans. (.) Tonight's meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the high school. Click here for the agenda.
  3. We're nearly at the end of the in Wickford. Tonight's performance by Avenue A (a mixture of swing, Dixie and jazz) will be the second to last show this summer. The show starts off at 7 p.m. by the town wharf behind 55 Brown St.
  4. Explore like you never have before. This evening join the farm for to explore the grounds, feed the animals, collect eggs and picnic. After, head to the bay to enjoy high tide and sit around a campfire with stories, skits, songs and s'mores. To cap it off, the farm will be holding a short night hike full of activities for the entire family. Runs from 5 to 9 p.m. $40 for the family, $20 for Historic New England members.
  5. Today's high will be around 80 with partly sunny skies and high humidity. Tonight, expect a chance of showers and fog – both of which will likely carry into tomorrow morning with showers and more high humidity with high temperatures around 75.
