5 Things: Free Concert, Heat Advisory & Rhode Island Disasters

Today's five essentials.

  1.  The Lafayette Band will hold a concert at 7 p.m. tonight as part of its Summer Concert Series at Town Beach, 15 Beach St.  All six of the outdoor concerts in the Summer Concert Series are free-of-charge and open to the public. The band will entertain audiences of all ages with their popular stage and screen tunes, marches and patriotic selections and favorites from the Big Band era. 
  2. The RI Department of Health and Division of Elderly Affairs has issued a joint heat advisory due to high temperatures predicted through the weekend. People are warned to stay out of the direct sun and seek shaded or air conditioned areas such as libraries or malls.   4. If you know a vet tech with some extra time on their hands, ask them to contact the North Kingstown Animal Shelter. They're looking for a vet tech that could volunteer one to two hours a week to perform SNAP tests on the animals. Call Liz at 401-295-5579.
  5. We have another sweltering day on our hands as temperatures will continue to linger in the upper 80s. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with highs near 89.
