5 Things: Commons at Frenchtown, RI Economy & Narwhal

Five things to know for May 7.

1.  Tonight the North Kingstown Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. at town hall. On the agenda, the commission will hold a public hearing for a comprehensive plan amendment for the Commons at Frenchtown and other zoning changes and discuss the project for a proposed development on Frenchtown Road.

2.  Tomorrow, Gov. Lincoln Chafee will be in town for a business community outreach forum at Beechwood Center. Joining him will be North Kingstown Town Manager Michael Embury and representatives from the RI EDC, Department of Labor and Training, and more to discuss the economy and speak to small businesses. This forum starts at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

3.  The North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce is recognizing its volunteers and the organizations they serve at its Eighth Annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration. To join, please RSVP by calling the Chamber at 295-5566. The celebration runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Quonset 'O' Club on Wednesday. Learn more here.

4.  Natural History writer Todd McLeish will be at the North Kingstown Free Library Wednesday, reading from his newly-published book about rare wildlife – specifically Narwhals. The program starts at 6:30 p.m. Please register.

5.  Today: cloudy then gradually clearing with highs near 68. Tonight: lows around 48. Tomorrow: showers likely with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 67.
