5 Things: Coat Drive, Business After Hours & Foodies

Five things to know for Nov. 16.

  1. Stony Lane Elementary School is hosting a community coat drive today. The school has been collecting coats, snow pants and boots for residents young and old – items that will be available for free to any resident who needs them. Runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  2. Join the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce for a business after hours tonight at Coventry Credit Union, complete with door prizes, refreshments and loads of networking. In lieu of an entry fee, attendees are asked to donate a non-perishable food item for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Runs from 5 to 7 p.m.
  3. Foodies of Wickford closed down yesterday, after just less than a year in business. The local eatery opened on Jan. 2 after Bagelz of Wickford vacated the building on Dec. 31. It's the third business to come and go through 21 W. Main St since 2008 when long-time staple Wickford Gourmet closed its doors after 26 years in the village.
  4. The Wickford Plan Committee meets tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. at North Kingstown Town Hall.
  5. Today: rain likely with fog after 1 p.m. and highs near 60. Tonight: rain before 9 p.m. with lows around 46. Tomorrow: chance of rain before 3 p.m. with highs near 49.
