5 Things: Blood Drives, Kindergarten Registration & The Return Of The School Committee

It's already the last Tuesday of April. (How quickly time flies, right?) Here are today's 5 Things To Know. Cheers.

  1. The North Kingstown School Committee returns for another round tonight. The committee looks to approve purchasing iPad 2s from Apple for almost $19,000 in grant money, $7,000 for Under Armour jerseys for the football team and $121,880 for bathroom renovations at . The committee also looks to accept the resignation of Charles Smith (); approve the contracts for principals at , and the high school; readdress the district's hiring process and consider a new parking policy at the high school.   2. Feel like giving back? is hosting a from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, courtesy of the Rhode Island South County Donor Center. The RI Blood Center must collect 240 to 280 pints of blood each day to meet the needs of the community, so be hero and donate today!
  3. Registration for kindergarten just opened today. Head on over to the s next to the high school from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to register your child for the upcoming school year. Make sure to bring a birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residence, child outreach screening, your child's doctor's name/address/phone number, medical insurance information and emergency contacts. . Can't make it today? Registration runs tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  4. Thursday's NKHS girls lacrosse game against Barrington has been moved to 7 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
  5. We'll begin this lovely day with some light showers and fog, turning to partly sunny skies with highs in the 60s. (Officials are predicting it to be a bit breezy, however.) Tomorrow looks to be most of the same with early fog and clouds and a brief afternoon shower with high temperatures in the lower 70s.
