5 Things: Bingo, Yarn & Pizza Party

This weekend's five essentials.

Hark! Tis Friday already! In case you haven't mentally prepped for the weekend – we surely haven't – here are five things you might need to know for the next few days.

  1. Bingo! Get your game on tonight from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for at North Kingstown High School, hosted by the NKHS girls softball team. Compete for great prizes and feast on homemade baked goods and light refreshments. Proceeds benefit the girls' team. 
  2. Yarn enthusiasts rejoice! Head over to the in Wickford for the statewide, three-day-long event the Great Rhody Yarn Crawl, connecting fiber bans to independent yarn shops. Download your "passport" to visit one or all shops during store hours and quality for prizes. (Please bring a non-perishable food item for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and earn an extra entry in the giant raffle in Pawtucket.) .
  3. Looking for a unique way to spend your Saturday? Come by Ryan Park tomorrow for the X(X) Exhibition of Senior Exhibits. Eleven NKHS seniors will show off their senior projects while multiple charities, including Invisible Children and Special Olympics, will be on hand for this all-day event. Activities include a volleyball tournament, fun run, field day, solar cooking, musical performances, solar cooking and...well, the list goes on. .
  4. Are you an avid junkie? Show your appreciation for the YMCA staff this Sunday by heading over to for a . Staffers will test their skills of waiting tables to raise money for the West Bay Family YMCA Financial Assistance Campaign. A portion of each bill and all tips will benefit the fund. Runs from noon to 8 p.m.
  5. April vacation looks to kick off with a bumpy start in terms of weather. (Please stifle your celebrations until the end of this article.) Today looks to be mostly sunny, though cooler than yesterday, while tomorrow we'll see colder temperatures in the upper 40s with blustery winds. Tomorrow night, the rain begins and carries on into Sunday before clearing at night.
