5 Things: Air Show Sells Out, Turbine Discussions & More

  1. The North Kingstown Town Council meets tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the to discuss the town's wind energy ordinance. The town's planning commission recently wind turbine at Stamp Farm and the town . North Kingstown's on wind energy system is set to expire on July 10. This meeting is for discussion only for the council and staff.
  2. At 7 p.m., the Town Council will move on to its regular meeting, handing out the deciding whather to reappoint Dick Pastore as chair of the North Kingstown Planning Commission and considering the extension of the town's wind energy moratorium, among other items. .
  3. Yesterday's Rhode Island National Guard Open House & Air Show brought a massive crowd to Quonset. The crowd was so large that the gates were closed at 2 p.m., the first time in the show's 21-year history that the event has been sold out. According to multiple sources, traffic was backed up to Route 95 with folks trying to get into the show. Check back later for our photo gallery and videos from yesterday's show.
  4. The North Kingstown Little League U-12 team is striving to stay alive in the All-Star tournament. The boys will play tonight at 5:30 p.m. to avoid double elimination after falling to Warwick yesterday. Head over to Signal Rock tonight to root on the boys!
  5. Soak in the sun today as temperatures stay in the upper 70s. Beware: we may see an afternoon shower, however. Tomorrow, expect a very humid day with more clouds and a possible thunderstorm in the evening with highs also in the high 70s, possibly lower 80s.
