North Kingstown-based Ocean State Job Lot is opening its first store in New Jersey.
The company, which operates 112 stores in the Northeast, will lease a 41,000 square foot space in Shrewsbury, N.J.
“Like all new stores, we hope to do very well,” company spokesman David Sarlitto told the Asbury Park Press. “We are constantly surprised at how many people end up finding the discount and the off-price model (is) for them because you can find high-quality imported olive oil as well as spices and a variety of different grocery items alongside tools and sweat shirts and pool chemicals.”
The company reportedly was interested in the location because of improvements to the retail economy and the abundance of vacancies in the Jersey Shore area.
