What a great organization! You get to sit next to James Halley, misappropriator of special needs funds, resignee in disgrace from the schools, and failed candidate, and his cheerleader president Martha Pughe, housewife with no significant business experience who announced that she would group NK businesses into "quadrants" (hows THAT going?). What a class act! Join the chamber now, as they are making so much improvement to NK business! http://tinyurl.com/l3ezraf

A great organization. All you have to do is get by their irrelevance and infighting. I am trying to remember the last time I heard or read that the chamber took a stand on anything that might be in the interest of the whole of NK and not just their membership. Maybe an opinion on what is not promoting NK or is not good PR for NK. Maybe just maybe! I doubt it.

underwhelmed, correct. think about who is on the board and who is president as I mentioned. when an organization has the lack of ethics to place halley on its board, and lack of professionalism to put a non-business person in charge, then the result could well be a bunch of self-interested types who do little for the business community or the larger community. It is better people who need to step up into politics and civic organizations so we can truly better the community.

Here's an idea just putting it out there. Maybe the chamber could get together with the wickford art assoc and they could come up with a new facility on the down trodden Post Rd corridor. Spruce up the area a bit. The waa could then pay taxes on the new and improved facility (they pay none now on prime town real estate) and they would gain the added space that they wanted the TC to give them for free, at the taxpayers expense. Sounds like a win win for the waa and the chamber, they could then point to this coup as a shining example of community activism. Comments?
