Health Inspections: Violations At House of Pizza

The Health Department noted several violations at the pizza parlor and one at the NK Food Pantry.

The Rhode Island Health Department inspected two food service facilities in North Kingstown last month, finding violations at both.

North Kingstown House of Pizza, 6170 Post Road, North Kingstown. The Health Department noted the following violations during an inspection on Oct. 30:

  • Many food contact surfaces in the facility were not clean to sight and touch. These items must be properly washed, rinsed and sanitized before next use and for times of temporary non-use.
  • Foods, located in the cold hold units and walk-in cooler, were not marked with the date of preparation. Ready-to-eat potentially hazardous food , prepared in the establishment and held for more than 24 hours, must be marked with the date of preparation.
  • Knives stored between equipment. This is not a proper storage area for knives.
  • Cutting boards on cold hold units are scratched and scorn and must be properly repaired/replaced.
  • The facility is lacking test strips to measure the concentration of the Cl sanitizing solution for the 3-bay sink and wiping cloth buckets. PIC stated they are already on order.
  • Hot water not available at time of inspection. A service call was placed during inspection.
  • Drain pipe of 3-bay sink leaking into buckets. This must be properly repaired.
North Kingstown Food Pantry Inc., 445 School St., North Kingstown. The Health Department noted the following violation during an inspection on Oct. 15:
  • The door to the outside, located in the back hallway, is not tight-fitting. Outer openings of a food establishment must be protected against the entry of insects and rodents by tight-fitting doors.
