Get Out: Washington County Fair, Dancing & More
Take your pick! There are a plethora of events taking place this weekend. Why not fill these last few weekends of summer '11 with memories that will get you through till this time next year?
Where/When: Located on Route 112 in Richmond. For directions, click here. | Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 17 through 21 from 9 a.m. to approximately 9 p.m.
Why Go: In its 45th year, the Washington County Fair features activities and entertainment appropriate for all ages. Among others, the bands "Love & Theft," "Mixed Breed" and "The Tim Charron Band" are all slated to perform at this year's fair. Also on the schedule are 4-H shows, tractor pulls, horse shows, arm wrestiling, dung throwing and much more. For a complete list of the entertainers, click here.

Why Go: The French Connection and the South County Open Band will be on hand Saturday to give some guidance to those with two left feet. There will be free lemonade and a cash bar at the event.
Pricing: $10
Where/When: Jamestown Town Beach at East Ferry | Saturday, August 20 at 9 a.m.
Why Go: Participants will have the opportunity to construct their own sailing vessels and then be given the chance to race them, according to an advertisement on the Jamestown Yacht Club. Those willing to take on the challenge will be given two hours to build their vessel(s) with non-marine items. Prizes will be given to the top three finishers in each category. 13th Annual Newport Storm Luau
Where/When: Fort Adams State Park in Newport | Saturday, August 20 from 4:30 to 10 p.m.
Why Go: You'll have to leave the kids at home for this shindig. Grab a group of your favorite 21-and-ups and enjoy an ice cold beer before summer's end.
Pricing: $15
Where/When: The International Tennis Hall of Fame | Saturday, August 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Have a ballin' good time at this event commemorating the first U.S. National Lawn Tennis Championships—the competition now known as the U.S. Open. For more information on the event, please call 849-3990.
Pricing: Free for ITHF members and kids ages 16 and under; otherwise, $11/adult, $9/seniors and military personnel
