Keeping Farms and Local Food in Our Future

When we buy fruits and vegetables raised on local farms, we know where our food is coming from and we know it’s fresh.  And kids take a different view of fruits and vegetables when they’ve visited a farm or eaten a locally raised meal at school.  But farming is a tough business – land is expensive, profit margins are thin, risks are great. There are ways that a town can help local farms be successful – and there are ways that a town can make it difficult to keep a farm going.
