Carriage Inn To Reopen

Carriage Inn is coming back, with a slightly longer name – Carriage Inn and Saloon – but that same iconic carriage in front.

The Town Council Monday night voted 5-0 in favor of transferring the beverage, victualing, dance and entertainment licenses to KirCorp, LLC, owner of the new Carriage Inn and Saloon.

Lawyer Donald Gregory told the Council KirCorp was made up of three people from the area, one of whom would be managing the restaurant. He declined to name the individuals.

He said the restaurant would offer "pub food" and dinner selections and that only minimal renovations would be made – "just kind of sprucing up."

The building has been empty since 2011. The previous owner, the Rhode Island Quahog Company, lasted less than a year at the site.

The plan is to reopen by Labor Day, Gregory said.

"It will be nice to have it open again," said Town Council President Liz Dolan.
