A Mexican family restaurant that delivers on taste and value! Ole!
I'm not going to lie: there are nights where I simply crave Mexican food. It is spicy, bursting with flavor, exotic, comforting and satisfying. , located on Post Road near the Wickford turn-off delivers on all of these and more.
El Tapatio offers a variety of traditional Mexican dishes from burritos to tamales, chimichangas (fried burritos, so good!), quesadillas, carne asada steak and even a new line of salads. Oh and yes, they do have fried ice cream and it is delicious.
Entrees range from $9.99 to $17.99 and the portions are quite generous. I am a sucker for the Veggie Verde Burrito (stuffed with beans, veggies, rice and toped with a green salsa and guacamole) and it is just shy of the NFL standard so it usually becomes two meals. Homemade chips and salsa (no really, they even make the tortilla chips on site in huge bins) come standard so try to save at least a little room for dinner.

El Tapatio is open seven days a week at 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner and stays open until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is family friendly and the great value can mean long wait times on weekend evenings, though week nights are usually easy to get in quickly. There is outside dining in the summer as well as a bar inside for waiting or just enjoying a few delicious Cadillac Margaritas with some friends.
