BankNewport To Open New Branch in Quonset

BankNewport signed a lease for a new branch at The Shops at Quonset Point.

The Shops at Quonset Point are getting a new neighbor soon. BankNewport announced Wednesday that it is leasing a parcel of land at the development in Quonset Business Park.

The bank has signed a 15-year lease for a 2,000 sq. ft. bank branch at the front of the shopping center on the corner of Gate Road and the center entrance to the development.

The building will feature two drive-thru lanes, an enhanced ATM for after-hours banking, a coin counting machine in the lobby and a conference room available to small businesses that require a meeting space during banking hours.

This upcoming branch will be the first BankNewport bank without a traditional teller line. Instead, it will use a streamlined technology to allow branch staff to focus on the customer. The building will also be Wi-Fi enabled and offer a coffee-bar setup.

“Our newest branch at the Quonset Business Park will be the ideal complement to our already established presence in North Kingstown and in East Greenwich,” stated BankNewport President and CEO, Sandra J. Pattie, in a press release Wednesday. “BankNewport’s Quonset location will provide added convenience to area customers, residents, commuters, and businesses to access our full range of financial services, delivered by a local team that they know and trust. We look forward to continuing our role as a true community partner and neighbor to the residents and businesses of North Kingstown and the West Bay.”

Construction of the new branch will begin this summer with a projected opening in December 2013.
