The Gilbert Stuart Museum cordially invites the public to Old Mill and Family Day, at the Museum on Sunday, October 7th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm (rain date, October 8th; call the Museum for confirmation)..
A new feature that will be enjoyed by all who attend is music by Doc Wood and Friends (aka Farm Dogs) who have developed an energetic, toe tapping interpretation of traditional and original material which Doc describes as, “… organic because it is earthy and old timey and frequently played without amplification or microphones.”
. Please bring your own lawn chair for a more leisurely listen.
Also featured at this event will be interactive kid’s activities, viewing of the spectacular corn grinding at the Grist Mill which happens only once a year, a South County ‘Scapes art show and sale in the Welcome Center, open house at the Birthplace, self-guided walks on the Museum’s Nature Trail, RI Spinners Guild (and weaving) demonstrations plus the sale of hand spun yarn and hand-woven goods accompanied by the ever-popular yearly jonny cake feast.
All proceeds from this fundraiser are earmarked for the Museum’s Capital Campaign to enrich the Gilbert Stuart Museum experience.
