Watch the Storm Live All Around Rhode Island

Department of Transportation traffic cameras have an added benefit.

While watching the snow fall out their own window tonight, Rhode Islanders all over the state are texting their friends and checking Facebook to find out "what it's doing there."

Now you can see for yourself.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation monitors traffic from its Transportation Management Center, using surveillance cameras stationed on highways all around the state. Still images of the surveillance are available to the public so you can find the daily traffic jams and avoid them before heading out to work.

Those same cameras have an added benefit. They let anyone be their own meteorologist. Continuously updating images from the traffic cams let you see beyond your living room window. You can literally watch the storm and know what it's doing almost anywhere in Rhode Island. Find out in a second whether you're lucking out or bearing the brunt of the weather.
