Viewing Party Tonight for NK's Emily James, Contestant on So You Think You Can Dance?

NK is rooting for one of their own -- Emily James, a contestant on So You Think You Can Tonight. A viewing party is scheduled for tonight at a local dance studio.

Friends of Emily James, a 21-year-old dancer from North Kingstown, will be gathering tonight to watch her compete as a contestant on the hit FOX show, So You Think You Can Dance?

James, 21, has been dancing since she was 2 and friends and family are cheering her on as she competes in the show.

Tonight, a North Kingstown dance studio has organized a viewing party. The show starts at 8 p.m., so give yourself time to get to the Talent Factory, where students there are "beyond excited to see Emily perform on this week's episode," said Dana D'Iorio Adames, director of The Talent Factory.

"She is a wonderful role model to all the dancers in her community," she said.

The Talent Factory is located at 6171 Post Road.

James graduated from La Salle Academy in 2010 and just graduated from Wake Forest University.

She was picked as one of the 20 finalists after a grueling audition process, which began in May (see attached video of James' audition).

Her specialty is contemporary dance and she is a lover of the ocean, which makes sense for a girl who grew up in the Ocean State.

"I absolutely LOVE fishing, diving, spear fishing and snorkeling," she said in her bio on the So You Think You Can Dance Web site.

You can also follow James on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
