North Kingstown Storm Center: Parking Ban, School Cancelled

Check back here throughout the storm for updates on what's happening in NK.

Tuesday, 6:45 p.m. – School has been cancelled for Wednesday, Supt. Phil Auger announced Tuesday night. By 6 p.m. Tuesday, there were already 2 inches on the ground and as much as 10 inches anticipated by the end of storm Wednesday. 

Tuesday, 3 p.m. – 
A parking ban will go into effect at 5 p.m. today and continue until 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to town officials.

Tuesday, 12:55 p.m. – 
Snowfall projections have been steadily on the rise all weekend, and that trend has continued Tuesday. Much of Rhode Island is now projected to see up to a foot of snow. The storm is expected to start dumping snow across the area late Tuesday afternoon, intensifying overnight before coming to an end Wednesday morning.

Tuesday, 11:49 a.m. –
 All late bus us and after-school activities are cancelled today, according to NK School District. Tonight's School Committee meeting has been postponed to Jan. 28.

Tuesday, Jan. 21, 8:54 a.m. – With temperatures this morning in the high teens and snow on the way, winter is making a big comeback.

A winter storm warning will go into effect at 1 p.m. today to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Snow will start this afternoon, but the heaviest snow is not expected until evening.

Monday, Jan. 20, 5:31 p.m. – A snowstorm forecasted to start Tuesday night is shaping up to be a bit more than just an inch or two across much of Rhode Island.The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. The so-called “jackpot” area is expected to span from the Tiverton-Little Compton area through Cape Cod. For more on this story, click here.
