NK Food Bank Off To Strong Start In New Location

While donations are always welcome, the pantry is also looking for more volunteers.

The North Kingstown Food Pantry, in its brand new School Street home, recently got donations of $1,600 from North Kingstown Newcomers & Neighbors Club and $1,287 from Icihban Karate. While things are going well, volunteers are needed.

"The shelves are filling right now as this is a time of giving and thankfulness. We are grateful to know we’ll have food for the months of January, February, and March....hopefully!" said NK Food Pantry Board President Karla Driscoll. "Personal care items and paper goods are always appreciated too."

"Many groups have been helping with events to collect food – it is amazing! We appreciate it so much!" she said.

Driscoll said things are going well at the Little Red School House, the pantry's new home, but noted that more volunteers are needed.

"We need people who would be willing to help the clients fill their orders, and we also need people who would help with 'office' work," said Driscoll. Volunteer hours could vary from one day a week to once a month. Anyone interested can call the pantry at 885-FOOD.
