Hops Farmer Looks To Open Farm Brewery
Matt and Kara Richardson first started making beer around 10 years ago, just for themselves. Then, in 2007, Matt starting growing hops with Kara's brother Joel Littlefield on Littlefield-owned farmland in Exeter. The hops were popular and Ocean State Hops was born. Now the Matt and Kara are planning to go a step further in the beer biz by opening Tilted Barn Brewery.

Stalking Charge Against Ceresi Dropped
A charge of stalking against School Committee Vice Chair Larry Ceresi for an incident in April was dismissed before the case went to court, according to Amy Kempe, spokeswoman for the state Attorney General's office.

NK Police Log: Two Cases of Shoplifting From Walmart
Erwin Hamilton Robinson, 45, of 413 Pine Street, Apt. 5 in Providence was arrested Sept. 24 at 2:15 p.m. on shoplifting charges. A Walmart employee reportedly watched Robinson remove several DVDs from their cases and hide them on himself.

Town's Firefighter Legal Fees Top $450,000
The town has spent $451,000 in legal fees related to the firefighter union since July 2011, according to a memo released Monday by Town Manager Mike Embury.

Judge Issues Partial 'Stay,' Sends FF Case To Supreme Court
After a whirlwind 10 days since the State Labor Relations Board issued a ruling that the town must return firefighters to their previous four-platoon shift schedule, Superior Court Judge Brian Stern issued a partial stay of that decision Monday. Simultaneously, Stern told lawyers for the town, the firefighters and the SLRB to get clarification from the Supreme Court on a stay the high court issued in May.

Old Town House Picks Up And Moves
It was drizzling and still dark when the driver who would be piloting the Old Town House to its new home climbed into the truck. The oldest municipal building in North Kingstown was about to leave the site where it's been since 1807 for a new home on Boone Street near North Kingstown Free Library.

NK Food Pantry Reopens In New Home
Just about everyone in official North Kingstown turned out for the ribbon (label, really) cutting for the North Kingstown Food Pantry's new home at the Little Red Schoolhouse.
