Partial proceeds from the matinee performance as well as the proceed from other fundraising events at RIC will be allocated to the Shinn fund.

This fund was established during the 1987-88 school year by the late Emeritus Professor of History Ridgway Shinn Jr. through the generous support of many of his friends, colleagues and former students. During his tenure at RIC, Shinn was the first chair of the Department of History, the first dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and vice president for Academic Affairs. He passed away in 2006.

In the past 25 years, the Shinn Study Abroad Fund has supported 77 RIC students in 28 different countries on six continents through grants that total more than a quarter of a million dollars.
