North Kingstown Resident Honored For Excellence in the Study of French

Christiana Layman (North Kingstown, RI), a recent Bay View Academy graduate of the Class of 2014, received a medal from the American Association of Teachers of French during the Academy’s Class Day ceremony on Wednesday, June 4th. The medal acknowledged that Christiana has received the 2013 AATF Outstanding Senior in French Award for her demonstrated excellence in the study of French, as well as her exceptional commitment to the many cultures where French is spoken. Christiana studied French for four years at Bay View Academy, under the direction of Upper School World Language teacher, Kathleen DePasquale (Smithfield, RI).

Christiana, both an athlete and an artist, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Rhode Island Honor Society. She was one of only eleven students given Bay View’s Mercy Honor Award this year. This award is given to seniors whose attitude and behavior reverence human dignity, who create a spirit of hospitality and who pursue integrity of word and deed. She will attend the University of San Diego in the fall.
