With direct pay & Medicare enrollment deadlines approaching,
representatives available via telephone and in person this weekend to answer questions
PROVIDENCE, RI (December 5, 2013) –Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will expand its customer service call center hours and retail location hours this weekend to provide additional support for customers as direct pay and Medicare enrollment deadlines approach. In addition it will offer additional locations for customers to drop off their Medicare enrollment applications in person.
BCBSRI staff will be available to answer questions about plan options, costs, physician networks and wellness benefits, as well as help individuals sign up for coverage. The customer service team can be reached at 1-800-351-BLUE (2583) TTY/TDD 711.
Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) ends on December 7, and the enrollment deadline for direct pay customers has been extended to December 23, 2013.
All applications for Medicare AEP must be received by BCBSRI by December 7, and cannot be postmarked in the mail by 12/7. BCBSRI representatives will be collecting Medicare applications at the following locations on Saturday, December 7:
East Greenwich: 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Chianti’s Restaurant, 195 Forge Road
East Providence: 9 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Davenport’s Restaurant, 1925 Pawtucket Avenue
Providence: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Elmwood Adult Day Health Center, 209 Elmwood Ave
Smithfield: 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m, Holiday Inn Express, 1010 Douglas Pike
To speak with someone in person, customers can visit the following locations:
· BCBSRI customer service at 500 Exchange Street in downtown Providence
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, December 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.
· The Blue Advantage Center, BCBSRI’s new retail location, at 300 Quaker Lane in Warwick
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Note: On Saturday, December 7, the Blue Advantage Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or until the last person is helped, as it is the final day of Medicare open enrollment.
