Name: Aisha McAdams Age: 15 School: North Kingstown High School Accomplishment: With her win in the two-mile race at the New England Championships earlier this month, Aisha beat out defending New England champ Lindsey Crevoiserat, who is currently the number one female prep miler in the country, by seven seconds. To top it off, Aisha broke the state's indoor two-mile record, set nine years ago by another NK star athlete, Lindsay Vieira. Name: Alex DiCenso, 10 School: Fishing Cove Elementary School Accomplishment: Last year, Alex won the Audubon Society's statewide essay contest in his age group with his idea to develop a plan to make North Kingstown more bike friendly. This year, Alex took home a second place in the Richard Dunn Memorial Contest for his photo of the Audubon Society's owl, Big Mama. (Check out his photo above.) Name: Julia Smiley Age: 18 years old School: North Kingstown High School Accomplishment: Julia was nominated to play for the McDonald's All-American High School Basketball Team last month, one of 12 female players nominated in the state. Key To Awesomeness: Julia remains constantly driven to succeed and is the quintessential team player. As captain of the NKHS girls basketball team, Julia looks to lead her team to the Ryan Center and take home the state championship this year.
