@compass - I was thinking the same thing. I don't think my grandfather would be unprofessional and Read Moretell someone to stop supporting his new business. Who is the new ownership? The About page that I referenced still lists AOL employees?

Sorry, I haven't had a cigarette in three days and I agree that I crossed the line into snark. IRead Moreapo logize. I obviously don't want people to stop visiting the Patch. Patch became a new company after it was acquired by Hale Global earlier this year and you can find plenty of coverage about the transaction if you google Patch Hale Global. In any event, my original intention to reply here was to say that I'm doing the best I can given the resources we have at hand here in Rhode Island right now. I care greatly about North Kingstown -- I grew up in SK and know and appreciate my hometown neighbor and want to deliver everything pertinent to taxpayers. The fact is I can't get to everything right now but I'll try to get to more. I never said that this issue in particular is not a priority. In all honesty, I haven't covered North Kingstown until very recently so I am not up to speed on the issues. I am always available at mark.schieldrop@patch.com or on my cell at 401-515-3660 and will take anyone's issue seriously. If I'm missing something just call or send me an email and I'll try to look into it and post an actual piece of local news. Thanks for reading and again, I'm sorry for being lame earlier.

You missed a lot, Mark. This issue is the number 1 issue for taxpayers in the Town of NK becauseRead Moreit is costing many millions of dollars in lawyer fees right now and is potentially compromising public safety due to firefighter fatigue. Read this blogger, which has all of the original documents, to get up to speed on things: http://onlinewithtraceyc.com/2014/04/09/heated-accord-turns-town-against-firefighters/ ...hope it helps.
