My name is Meghan O’Brien, and I am going to be a sophomore at North Kingstown High School. I have lived in North Kingstown my whole life, and have been fortunate enough to experience many of the opportunities that are available to children here in NK. 

I am a lover of the arts, and always took advantage of the drama programs offered.  I have continued this passion in high school, and was recently a member of the winter musical Footloose, and also a member of one of the student-directed skits in the humorous collection called the Drama Showcase.

I have also always loved sports.  As a child, I took part in recreation softball, basketball, gymnastics, field hockey, tennis, and track.  This year at the high school, I was a part of the cross country team.  All of these experiences influenced my decisions in high school, and have been a major part of developing my character today.  It is my intention to share these opportunities with the current children of my community, in the hopes that they can grow and mature as people and have fun doing it.

I hope to someday become a journalist for a television news program, and am hoping to better my writing skills with this experience.  I have always loved writing and thought that there was no other topic better to write about than the joys of my childhood.  Throughout this summer, I hope to continue this blog and teach my community about all the different opportunities available, including recreation programs, places to go, and things to see.
