What Street in North Kingstown Has the Biggest Speeding Problem?
There are a lot of people who have trouble obeying the speed limit, but which street in North Kingstown do you think has the biggest problem with speeding?
From Ten Rod Road to Post Road to Quaker Lane, no North Kingstown road is safe from speeding drivers. But, which road has the biggest speeding problem?
Since North Kingstown Patch launched in October 2010, NK has unfortunately seen its fair share of auto accidents in which speeding as at least a contributing factor. In October 2010, a man died in rollover on Tower Hill Road just outside Wickford Village. Police believed that speed was a factor. In August 2011, speed was a factor in two fatal motorcycle accidents in NK (one on Route 403 and another on Post Road). In November 2012, a North Kingstown woman died after her car hit a tree on Annaquatucket Road. Sadly, this is just a small sampling of deadly crashes in North Kingstown in which speed was a contributing factor.
Which NK road has the biggest speeding problem? What should be done to mitigate this issue?

The roads with the "problems" are the roads with the 25 mph speed limits....which no one seems to adhere to.....Old Baptist Road for one, Stoney Lane, School Street....but with good reason. The 4 lane stretch between Quonsett to Wickford is especially tricky....that is 35 MPH.....but at any given time...people drive from 35 to 65!

Old Baptist, Annaquatucket, Shermantown and Stony Lane have always scared me. They're windy roads that people just fly down. Coupled with the amount of pedestrians, cyclists, runners, etc. on those roads, the speeding issue is even scarier.

Second that - esp on Boston Neck Rd at the Annaquatucket intersection, where people traveling west pass on the right shoulder at full speed when a car is waiting to make a left turn onto Annaquatucket. Most dangerous when it gets warmer and folks are walking on that shoulder. Back in October a car passing on the right nearly mowed down a man walking with his two kids.

I'll post a second vote for Lafayette road - narrow and windy and the 25mph is warranted. There are often bikers and walkers and even people who are trying to pull out of their blind driveways. Many students use that as a "cut through" to route 4 from URI and I've been passed several times by those young drivers going at least double the limit....even though the whole stretch has a solid line dividing the lanes, indicating a no-passing zone. I just pray each time that there is not a head-on collision or a poor animal trying to cross the road at that moment. I rarely see a policeman on that stretch but I do see them on Stony Lane frequently, probably because it's close to the station and there is an elementary school.

I certainly hope Nk doesn't have a dedicated traffic division. What a waste of taxes! I rarely notice anyone really flying down any of the roads mentioned, frankly.

Well, newcomb rd is terrible. People drive very fast and don't really care if you are in a crosswalk or not, they just drive around you. Pine river also has many apeeders. I think the town should put speed bumps on the streets and make people slow down.

Route 1 right in front of the NK Police and the State Police Station.
Try walking or riding a bike in this area. Your life is at risk.
Where are the police?
People ignore stop signs and speed throughout the town.
Enforcing traffic laws isn't the most exciting part of their job, but it's a super important one.
