Members of Rhode Island's 1207th Forward Company returned home today after a year in Kuwait.

Clutching balloons, posters and flowers, hundreds of families and friends pressed up against the barriers of , eagerly awaiting the return of the 1207th Forward Support Company.

As the more than 100 soldiers of the 1207th exited their plane, they were greeted by Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts, Congressmen David Cicilline and James Langevin before being drowned in hugs and tears from family and friends in a reunion nearly a year in the making.

The 1207th, along with members of the 103rd Field Artillery Battalion Headquarters, were deployed last September to Kuwait, where they oversaw operations of five bases and provided security for convoys moving in and out of Iraq.

For the past week, the soldiers have been demobilizing in Wisconsin, anxiously awaiting their return home to Rhode Island.
