From Post Road to Boston Neck Road to Quaker Lane, North Kingstown has its fair share of vacant buildings. Some have been empty for years while others see a rotating crop of businesses.
But, if it were up to you, what would you like to see happen to these buildings? Each week, we'll feature one empty building, lot or area in North Kingstown and ask our readers what they'd like to see there.
A skate park? A community center? A Thai restaurant? A movie theater? What do youwant?
This week: Hoof Fin Feathers Carriage Inn (a.k.a. Rhode Island Quahog Company Carriage Inn).
Sound off in the comments below.

Put up a four hundred foot wind turbine with a five bladed propeller and lash one town council member to each one of the giant blades until they pledge not to play any more political games against the school committee and make deals with donors and developers to the detriment of the rest of the town. (Then turn it up on full and go home! lol)

I would love to see someone bring in a family friendly style restaurant, again. Something not too pricey, but good "home style" food.

A small Dave's type grocery store. Give Dave's some competition and get those prices DOWN! Good sales but rediculous prices.

1. a family restaurant, but not a chain one
2. another art center where one can learn crochet, knitting, drawing and painting
3. a tea shop/ coffee shop where one can learn to bake scones, cookies, etc- perhaps a new concept
4. a movie theatre combined with a place for small theatre would be lovely- but combined with a cafe
5. a place where bicyclist can come to meet and have a respite meal/ water
6. a picnic park area, where small bands can meet each week and provide free entertainment

I have a few ideas: I like the restaurant and Inn idea.
Also I was thinking an Adventure suites like building which is like a hotel with differently themed rooms.
A play center, climbing wall, indoor play area where you can go year round. Games and things to do.
I like this building when I see it it makes me smile and think of the days with horses and carriages around.

Like Venda on Federal Hill? I actually think that would be a great idea for the former Ryan's Market.

How about a good ole fashioned Yankee family restaurant with dancing on The weekends & ladies night and family style nights? We had a family wedding, a funeral collation, our son's Eagle Scout reception and many a birthday there...we MISS it. No weird things, but reasonably priced wholesome, food, ice cold beer, red red wine & people will support it. There's no where around like that. Have a kitchen garden, have invited guest chefs.. Invite the patriots, bring Naragansett Beer events with Troy Brown, have local brine pickle contests, or microbrew contests, local recipe competitions...ethnic foodnight, Polka parties-a few ideas from our gang

Demo the right side, make the Barn section a quaint collonial tavern with actual good food and older, professional, mature waitstaff instead of crak-heads/fmr strippers like we see in so many eateries today, serving quality period-authentic dishes by the fire. Live entertainment, again, authentic and quality. Dig up the right half of the oversized parking lot and make it a treed lot with easy to maintain gardens where patrons can stroll before or after dinner. That building is an overbuilt, aging, moldy monstrosity. Tighten it up into something high quality and get a following going. To drive traffic, Serve affordable breakfast brunch and lunch again in colonial theme.

Lots of good ideas, I like the theater/food/coffee idea. One of the places like the one in Providence, The Cable Car, I think it is?? Old movies, newer movies, cheap price and good but inexpensive food.....

A nice, Colonial-style restaurant like the Daniel Packer Inn in Mystic or Benjamin's in Taunton. A quiet, comfortable place without any rowdy music or patrons that mature adults and well-behaved children can enjoy.

A colonial style restaurant would be great I think, or even a banquet facility that could be available for large functions. Hopefully it doesn't go to waste. What a great location.

Good idea Liz, NK needs a teen center. I've been thinking about how to get that done for years!
