Wasn't too happy that the ballot scanner was inoperable at DMS when I voted this morning. I had to drop my ballots in the scanner slot and they will scan them later. It's 2012, shouldn't we have a national voting system that is better then what we have now?

Line was about an hour long when I went there, but people are standing there out in the cold waiting. Maybe there's hope for us yet...

I refused to put mine in the bin and was told I could wait to the side for the guy to come to fix the machine. About ten people then piled up behind me. The guy came in within minutes and pulled out a ballot stuck in there...which he reran by the way. I have waited four years for the opportunity to vote in this election...there was no way I was going to let someone "run it for me" later!

Scanners down at Stony Lane Elem when I voted at around 3:30 pm. I also had to drop my ballots into a slot. Had the same reaction as @MeanE above. How can we be assured our votes are entered/scanned? What happens to the ballots dropped into the slots when the scanners are down? Does anyone know with certainty?

Seed - A friend of mine on Facebook told me to call 1-866-OUR-VOTE to report it. I did and they were going to send a representative out to investigate it. Not sure if it will help, but I figured I would give it a shot, as I am hearing about polling issues all over the US.

Interesting....or should I saw more accurately...disturbing. I heard from both camp sides that Romney and Obama had the "fix in" with the major scanner unit companies...so let the conspiracy theories begin....lols

I vote at Hamilton and at 3:30 the ballot counter registered 2410 when I scanned the second ballot. So if you divide by two, 1205 people voted so far. The poll workers said turnout has been good and hectic at times.

There is no excuse for the lack of accuracy in this election, election reform should have been on the ballot

10:05PM and no updates? The RI Elections site has the results from all 11 precincts. With this speed, maybe Patch should go to a print format LOL

According to the Secretary of State website, Hueston and O'Sullivan are only 6 votes apart. Does anyone know if these results include mail ballots?

Sheriff,
Please check my article again. I made two updates after polls closed – one at 9 p.m. when 6/11 precincts reported and another at 9:45 p.m. when 11/11 (minus mail-in ballots) came in.

SoxFan, this is a CRITICAL race for NK as an O'Sullivan win would take the council away from the Dolan-Hueston cabal that has done so much damage. So pray for a miracle with recount and mail on this. 6 Votes!!!!!!!!!!! Wow.

No matter how it turns out the showing by the heretofore unknown, non-endorsed, and underfunded independent candidates speaks volumes about the level of distrust and dissatisfaction with the Town Council.

This election result will cripple NK both morally and financially. More labor discord and lawsuits are assured. The voters spoke at the polls that's the system. Now we must all live with the results or move.

Not over joyed by these results. But ok with the unofficial outcome! I think Carol deserves to be in there, it'd be a shame if she got cast out by mail ins.
On another note, I wish people would just speak for themselves. It's an annoyance when people post things or speak at tc meetings like they are representing the entire town. Just a thought :)

It's obvious that the voting citizens of NK enjoy discord and disgrace. Great job, gluttons.

Angel Fish, based on your choice of words ("the voting citizens of NK") it appears you are:
a). not a resident of NK.
or
b). a non-voting resident o NK.
Regardless of answer, your mean spirited comment above is irrelevant.
