NK Resident Named President of Greater Providence YMCA
North Kingstown resident Jim Berson has been named president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Providence.
The YMCA of Greater Providence has a new man taking the reins. Jim Berson of North Kingstown was named president and CEO of one of the state's largest nonprofit organization Thursday. Berson will be the 21st CEO to lead the organization since its founding in 1853.
I am honored and humbled to step into this role with the YMCA, an organization known for the tremendous impact it has on the children and families in our area," said Berson. "I look forward to working with our volunteers and staff to address the critical needs of our communities."
Berson was selected after the YMCA's Board of Directors conducted a comprehensive, volunteer-led national search. His past credentials include executive leadership roles at Meeting Street and The Providence Center – which work closely with the YMCA and are committed to addressing critical community needs.
“We are very excited to welcome Jim into his new role at the Y,” said Mark Saccoccio, Chair of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Providence. “His years of experience and expertise as well as his excellent relationships with leaders throughout the area will help propel us forward as we strive to help kids and families achieve and improve the health of our community.”
Berson has also been active in the local community, serving as a past chair of the West Bay Family YMCA and active on its Board of Directors for more than seven years. Additionally, he has served on Quonset Development Corporation's Board of Directors and the Rhode Island Association for the Education of Young Children.

This is not to disparage Berson, but he was ALSO chairman of the NKGOP. It seems yet another "national search" reels in someone from the RI political fish tank.

@ NKGOP Watch, don't forget, he lives within 5 mile radius of Jim Halley. If you combine the two, he is most certainly the devil incarnate.

@ NKGOP Watch, It is rumored that Burson and Halley have more in common than we once thought: The both very possibly shop for groceries at the same location, they very well may use the same dry cleaner, it is rumored that they both may frequent the same hair stylist and have purchased gasoline at the same refueling station.

Jim Berson is actually a really nice man. I'm sure he shares little more than a first name with halley. My point was these "national searches" always seem to find a local person with the right political connections. So there must be an incredible amount of smart people in RI politics!
